A Youthful Spirit - Age In The Afterlife

Act now and we will send you an additional 30 day supply of ‘Wrinkles Away’, and look twenty years younger!

Turn on a television or radio, flip through the magazine ads or the internet spam email and you will hear all of the ‘new younger look’ products available in today’s market. Even the specialists in the surgical field have presented options for us to look younger with a little ‘nip and tuck’.

We work so hard to maintain our youthful appearance of our earthly physical shell, I wonder at times if we work as hard to maintain our youthful ’spiritual energy’.

With the focus on the physical earthly shell, many have asked my thoughts in regards to those loved ones who have moved on when they are in their earthly plan at youth. When a child is given an earthly plan that appears to us as completed in such a short path, does their spiritual energy remain at that age or rather mature within their spirit?

Others within the field of the paranormal have thoughts that when one moves on their spiritual energy becomes a certain age. When a child moves on, their spirit becomes mature in order for them to assist in guidance. All who have entered the other side are of one ’spiritual age’.

I feel that when our unique spiritual energy is created, it is created within a unique physical shell. Unfortunately no matter how hard we try to maintain our youthful appearance, our physical bodies are created to ‘age with the time’. Upon completing ones earthly plan, the spirit created within moves on and leaves the temple of the physical body to lay to rest. Ashes to ashes -dust to dust.

I feel we cannot associate the ‘age of the spirit’ with the ‘age of the physical shell’ simply due to one is unique to the other. For example if a loved one suddenly completes his or her earthly plan at the age of six years, does the spiritual energy remain at six years? What we are associating in this question is the spiritual energy with the earthly physical body. There cannot be a comparison in my view, as the physical shell ages and the spirit remains ageless.

Many years have gone by for the loved ones of the six year old. To validate his/her presence, how best would it be for the spirit to appear? Would the parents know it is their child if he/she appears as an adult, or would they know their child as they were when ‘they moved on’? As an adult energy, the parents may run screaming thinking they are ‘haunted’!

My thoughts are that the spiritual energy of a child has many choices simply due to no longer being confined to the age of the physical shell. They may remain in the ‘age of when they moved on’ so that their loved ones will know when acknowledged. The spirit may ‘grow up’ with a brother or sister still in their earthly plan so as to be ‘a loving and guiding brother or sister’. Or they may simply ‘age’ as their loved ones will feel that the child has aged through the years since moving on.

Simply said, I feel a child who has moved on will ‘be what it is to be’ for their loved ones to know that life is everlasting.

Life is an everlasting gift - no nip, no tuck, no wrinkles.

Spiritual Awakening

As we proceed further into the 21st century there is even more of a feeling that humanity as a whole is hearing “a calling”. Most of the clients in the realm that talk about this describe it as an “awakening” or experiencing an “enlightenment” or a “need for transformation.”

For some this process, a spiritual awakening is a gentle process develops as a consequence of many years of seeking, and researching practices having to do with self-development. This is the type of seeker who wants the spiritual awakening and seeks out the guidance of a teacher or to help them prepare themselves emotionally and physically for their spiritual awakening.

However, I have noticed that no matter how trained an individual nobody is ever ready for what Eastern religions call the awakening of the Kundalini energy. The sad truth is most spiritual awakenings are quite rude: what some of us call a “wake up call.” True enlightenment is usually preceded by some kind of life loss or tragedy that kick starts the awakening of consciousness. A common catalyst is intense physical or emotional distress. As people confront the limits of their endurance and come face to face with death or loss, they will often move into altered or transcendental states of consciousness as they ask God or a higher power for help. Natural disasters, near-death experiences or life transitions such as midlife crisis, addiction or separation can be blessings in disguise that lead to a blossoming of spiritual awareness.

It is thought that practices such as yoga, bioenergetics, polarity work or breathwork can cause a natural awakening of Kundalini energy. Kundalini is the Hindu word for the sacred, transformative energy that awakens consciousness. According to Eastern esoteric literature, this energy is coiled, like a snake at the base of the spine and when stimulated it streams or coils up through the body’s energy centers (chakras).

The awakening of the kundalini is almost always associated with a spiritual crisis. Typically the person may feel overwhelmed, bewildered, disassociated, frightened vulnerable, fragmented, fearful, confused, disoriented and overcome by too much information. This can be the first sign that you are about to be blessed with a spiritual awakening, although many may feel it more like a “curse’.

Some of the symptoms you might experience during a spiritual awakening are:

Involuntary jerking movements of the body including vibrations, spasm, shaking and contractions:

As the Kundalini energy moves from the base of the spine and up through the body, it clears deeply held blockages and while this is happening the person may experience emotions and memories from injuries and traumas suffered in the past. The Hindus call this “pranic” movement.

Unusual Breathing or Physical Movements:

Some people find themselves performing hand gestures and body postures that are unusual but can later be identified as mudras or yoga related postures. They may also develop an unusual relationship to sound and tones and want to vocalize these sounds with their breath. These are called Yogic symptoms.

As the Kundalini moves up through the body, some experience a form of “spring” cleansing as the strong spiritual energy moves through the body releases toxins. Headaches, heart pain, stomachaches and nervous disorders can be part of the kundalini moving up your spine. A very common symptom is oversensitivity to any kind of sensory input and the desire to be alone to heal.

Confusion and Emotional Imbalance:

As the Kundalini energy moves up from the spine, people find themselves possessed by inexplicable mood swings, anxiety, grief, guilt and depression. On the flip side, they may sometimes experience moments of sexual promiscuity, unexplained orgasms, lack of sexual desire and states of disassociation or bliss. Most spiritual awakening challenge the ego to let go of primal drives and subconscious blocks so that you are more aware and living in the moment

An Increase in ESP and Intuition:

Dreams of past lives or strange symbols are common during a spiritual awakening as are unusual visual and auditory sensations include hearing voices, seeing auras or strange lights. Some may smell scents. Smelling sandalwood or roses for no apparent reason is common. An out of body experience or two may also occur where you appear to see yourself from the ceiling, or feel bigger or smaller than your physical body.

Mystical and Psychic States of Consciousness:

During a spiritual awakening, the psychic abilities are often accelerated and the person may suddenly develop such talents as precognition, telepathy, and the ability to see auras or healing abilities.

The awakening of the Kundalini is not a goal but heralds the beginning of the process called transformation of consciousness. Spiritual emergence often includes expanded perceptual abilities, increased energy, creative expression and a devotion to being of service for the greater good of all.
Although a spiritual awakening may be uncomfortable and typically last from several months to several years, at the end there is a promised land where the individual develops a serenity and sense of deep peace that they have never known before.

Simple Pleasures Ingredients to Feed Your Spirit.

“When we do something we love, again and again, our life comes to hold the fragrance of that thing. ~ Wayne Mullen

Cold air slips through the cracks in my doorway and around my windows. My cats lie curled up in balls; asleep on plump pillows. They hibernate most days now and only awaken from their dreamy slumbers for bites of kibble. They are unaware of our troops in the Middle East or our economy problems here at home.

What sustains you during tough times? Do you have a network of support? What are the things that comfort you when life seems to be filling your plate with more of the things you find unappetizing? Now is the perfect time to focus on simple daily rituals and pleasures as we live through more turbulent days ahead. Let’s call these, recipes for rapture.

Every good recipe must include the right ingredients. Perhaps, it’s buying flowers each week to put in your home or, on your desk at work. Most grocery stores have flowers available and you can include these weekly flowers as part of the menu for “feeding” your spirit. Maybe, it’s taking a break from watching the news or reading the newspaper. Instead, listen to some music that you find particularly soothing. Try keeping a dream journal to capture your dreams or create a personal altar in the corner of a room. You can mix and match ‘ingredients’ according to your particular taste. The key is to create a recipe that is authentically soul-satisfying to you. For me, its cups of tea, a daily walk, and watching birds at my window feeder.

Or, be like cats. Take long naps. Choose the most comfortable and warmest of spots; preferably in sunshine and curled up next to someone. Stretch daily and, when it’s warm enough, go outside for a little fresh air. Watch birds for entertainment. Play everyday. Make sure you have lots of toys available. Get a good cat scratch especially along the back.

To create a ‘purrrrfect’ life fill yours with plenty of simple pleasures and daily rituals that bring you comfort and joy.
